Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost tussle for the lead during the French GP at the Paul Ricard circuit. In 1988 the McLaren MP4/4 was the car that took Senna and Prost to unprecedented dominance during the partnership’s maiden 1988 season, winning 15 pole positions and 15 races out of 16 that year. It also achieved 10 fastest laps. McLaren won the Constructor’s Championship with three times as many points as runner-up Ferrari.
Ayrton Senna took his maiden World Championship this year, beating his team mate by 3 points.
